BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland's top two doubles teams, and five of the six singles players, claimed wins on Friday night as the Greyhounds beat New Jersey City University, 6-1, at the McClure Tennis Center.
Loyola claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 as
Olivia Tracey and
Anna Rico defeated Mila Gilgorov and Vanshita Malhotra, 6-0, at the top spot. Laurne Manwiller and
Jessica Bodewes then beat Giada Zorzan and Sara Zorzan, 6-1, at No. 2.
Tracey posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Giada Zorzan at No. 1 singles, but Eliza Clamor outlasted Manwiller, 6-7, 6-4, (12-10) to pick up the Gothic Knights' point at No. 2.
Rico used straight-sets for a 6-3, 6-0 win over Malhorta at No. 3, and Bodewes was a 6-0, 6-4 winner against Gilgorov at No. 4.
Abby Decker defeated Brittany Waugh, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5, and
Sandra Aguirre swept Sara Zorzan, 6-0, 6-0 in the sixth flight.
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Saturday, March 19, when they host Lehigh University in a match that has been moved to a 12 noon start due to potential weather conditions.
