WEST POINT, N.Y. – Loyola University Maryland's men's and women's tennis teams closed a weekend of Patriot League contests with matching 2-1 records on Sunday after the men were defeated by the U.S. Military Academy and the women by Boston University.
Army West Point 4, Loyola Men 0 –
The Black Knights took the doubles point with three equal scores of 6-2 across the matches. Thomas Lake and A.J. Woodman topped
Skyler Gates and
George Cavo at No. 1, and Diego Huttepain and Samuel Eden were winners against
Edik Pribitkin and
Matt Cardano at No. 2. Jake Huarte and Nathan Jose beat
Liam Rompere and Olivery Dave at No. 3 doubles.
In the singles matches, Huttepain beat Gates, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 1, and Samuel Haikal was a 6-1, 6-2 winner against
Liam Rompere at No. 5, while Huarte defeated
Ryan Boland, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 6.
Boston University 4, Loyola Women 0 –
Boston University claimed the doubles point with a trio of victories, led by Emily Kim and Erica Di Battista in a 6-0 win over
Olivia Tracey and
Anna Rico at No. 1. Victoria Carlsten and Michelle Kleynerman got past
Lauren Manwiller and
Jessica Bodewes, 6-2, at No. 2, and Shelly Yaloz and Sydney Sharma beat
Abby Decker and
Genevieve Wurtz, 6-2, at No. 3.
Carlsten topped Tracey, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles, Di Battista defeated Manwiller, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2, and Kelynerman was a 6-0, 6-3 winner against Rico at No. 3.
The Greyhound are back in action on Thursday, March 31, when they host Hofstra at 3 p.m.
