CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –
Mike Crowley shot a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to close the University of Virginia's Lewis Chitengwa Memorial Tournament, leading the Loyola University Maryland golf team with a tie for 21
st place.
As a team, the Greyhounds were 14
th in a field that included four teams ranked in the nation's top 40.
Crowley opened with four-straight pars before birding three of the next eight to get to 3-under in the final round. He had a double-bogey setback on the par-3 11
th hole, but he then eagled the 524-yard, par-5 12
th to get back to 3-under on Tuesday.
His round of 70 was his second sub-par round of the tournament and eighth of the 2021-2022 season. He finished the tournament at 1-under par.
Carlo Pizzano got around the 7,058-yard Birdwood Golf Course at 2-over on Tuesday to finish the 54 holes in a tie for 43
rd at 6-over.
Brandon Berry tied for 69
th at 13-over par, while
Matt Malits was 16-over and 75
th.
Jackson Roman finished a stroke and place back of Malits.
Brett Inserra played as an individual and shot 2-over 74 in the final round to tie for 71
st at 14-over par.
The Greyhounds will have a quick return to action this weekend when they play in Penn State University's Rutherford Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17.
