BALTIMORE –
Olivia Tracey won the No. 1 singles match on Wednesday afternoon for the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team, but the U.S. Naval Academy defeated the Greyhounds, 6-1, at the McClure Tennis Center.
Tracey won a super-tiebreaker in the third set to take down Jillian Taggart, 6-4, 6-7 (5), (10-5), in the top singles flight to score the Greyhounds' point.
Emily Tannenbaum defeated
Lauren Manwiller, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, and Kacey Moore was a 6-3, 6-4, winner over
Anna Rico at No. 3. Meghana Komarraju beat
Jessica Bodewes, 6-3, 6-0, at No.. 4, and Katerina Corpuz was a three-set winner against
Abby Decker at No. 5, 6-4, 5-7, (10-7). Stella Ribaudo topped
Genevieve Wurtz, 7-6 (8), 6-3, at No. 6.
In the doubles matches to start the contest, Taggart and Moore were 6-1 winners against Tracey and Rico at No. 1, while Corpuz and Komarraju defeated Manwiller and Bodewes, 6-4, at No. 2. Casey Accola and Emily Tannenbaum then beat Decker and Wurtz, 6-1, at No. 3.
