Brett Inserra is tied for 19
th, and
Brandon Berry is tied three spots back for 22
nd, as the Loyola University Maryland golf team wrapped up the first day of competition at the Rutherford Intercollegiate at Penn State's Blue Course.
As a team, the Greyhounds are tied with Connecticut for 10
th place after 36 holes.
Inserra was 2-under through 16 holes during the first round before a bogey and a double bogey on his final two holes set him at 1-over for the opening 18. He then posted three birdies during a six hole stretch between the ninth and 14
th holes in the second round, finishing the day at 3-over.
An eagle on the par-5 ninth hole brought Berry level for the second round, and he added two birdies and seven pars on the back nine of the course to finish the second round at 2-under 69. Overall, he is 4-over for the tournament's first two rounds.
Carlo Pizzano,
Mike Crowley and
Connor McGarrity are all tied for 65
th at 10-over. Crowley and McGarrity both had two rounds of 5-over 76, while Pizzano shot 3-over 74 in the first round.
