WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Davis Lindsey finished Tuesday night's non-conference game with career-highs of two goals, three assists and five points for Loyola University Maryland, but second-ranked Georgetown University used a 7-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters to defeat the visiting Greyhounds, 14-7.
Lindsey was scored off a
Kevin Lindley assist with 12:12 to go in the second quarter, tying the score at 3-3 after the Hoyas (11-1) opened with the first three goals.
That was the last goal until Dylan Watson scored one of his game-high five goals with 4:55 to go in the first half, kicking off the Georgetown run. The Hoyas would score four times over the next 2:25 to take a 7-3 lead at the break.
The Hoyas then scored the first three goals of the third quarter to build a 10-3 lead before Lindsey ducked through traffic to score on a high-to-high shot for the Greyhounds at 7:12. He then assisted on Lindley's second goal of the night at 1:50 in the quarter, bringing Loyola within five.
Georgetown, however, scored four of the next five goals with
Adam Poitras and
Joey Kamish tallying the Greyhounds' fourth-quarter goals off Lindsey assists.
Kamish ended with a goal and an assist, while Lindley scored twice and added an assist. Poitras, and
Seth Higgins both scored once for Loyola.
Ryan McNulty led the Greyhounds with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Mustang Sally had two caused turnovers, as well.
Sam Shafer matched his career-high with 17 saves in goal for the Greyhounds.
Loyola will remain on the road for its next game, playing at Colgate University on Saturday, April 23, at 12 noon.
