Livy Rosenzweig and senior
Katie Detwiler have been named Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalists, as announced by the Foundation today.
Â
Rosenzweig, picking up her third honor as a top-25 semifinalists, is one of 11 attackers honored, while this marks Detwiler's first semifinalist honor. She's also one of just five defenders on the list.
Â
"What an incredible accomplishment to be identified as one of the top-25 players in the country," head coach
Jen Adams said. "Both Livy and Katie have had outstanding seasons so far and they are extremely deserving of this prestigious recognition from the Tewaaraton committee. While their seasons are not yet finished, we look forward to watching them continue to compete at the highest level and see where they can take us through the tail end of our 2022 season."
Â
Rosenzweig is one of the most accomplished attackers to ever play at Loyola. A three-time IWLCA All-American, Rosenzweig already owns the Patriot League and Loyola career records for assists and points, and she ranks fourth in NCAA history with 207 career assists and sixth with 401 career points. She leads all active players in the NCAA this season in career points per game, averaging 5.21 over the course of her career, and she ranks second in career assists per game among active players, dishing out 2.69 per outing.
Â
The Katonah, New York native was voted the Preseason Patriot League Attacker of the Year and has been named the Patriot League Attacker of the Week three times this season. Riding a 69-game point streak, Rosenzweig tops the Greyhounds with 50 goals and 73 points this season, while ranking second on the team with 73 draw controls.
Â
Detwiler is one of the top match-up defenders in the country, consistently holding opponents well below their season averages. The Preseason Patriot League Defender of the Year has earned a League-best four weekly honors this season and has held Johns Hopkins' Shelby Harrison scoreless, Towson's Blair Pearre without a shot, Penn's Taylyn Stadler to just one goal and Florida's Danielle Pavinelli – a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist – to one free position goal, snapping her six-game streak of hat tricks.
Â
Hailing from Devon, Pennsylvania, Detwiler also anchors a defense that has held 11 of its 15 opponents to single digits in goals and ranks eighth nationally by giving up just 8.27 goals per game. An IWLCA All-American in 2021, Detwiler has contributed 14 ground balls and a team-best 17 caused turnovers so far this year.
Â
Loyola will return to action on Saturday as it heads to Lafayette for its final regular-season road game of the season. Opening draw is set for 11 a.m. from Fisher Stadium.
