Golf Holds 36 Hole Lead At Patriot League Championships

HELLERTOWN, Pa. – Carlo Pizzano shot a 4-under 68 on Saturday to take the individual lead, and Loyola University Maryland shot 2-over 290 as a team to lead after the second round of the Patriot League Men's Golf Championships at The Steel Club.

The Greyhounds enter Sunday's final round with a six-stroke lead over second-place Colgate University and a seven-shot advantage over Lafayette College.

Pizzano got hot on the 6,665-yard course's back nine after making the turn even for the round. He birdied the 367-yard, par-4 12th before stringing together three-straight bridies on the 14th, 15th and 16th holes to move into the individual lead.

He is two shots clear of Lafayette's Ryal Tall who is second at 2-under after shooting 73 Saturday.

Loyola's Brandon Berry is one stroke back of Tall in third at 1-under. Berry had six birdies on Saturday, but he had five bogeys, as well, and was shot 1-under 71 a day after posting an even-par 72.

Matthew Malits carded a 2-over 74 during the second round, while Loyola's other three players – Mike Crowley, Brett Inserra and Jackson Roman – all shot 5-over 77.

Crowley is tied for 15th after 36 holes at 6-over, while Malits is a stroke back and tied for 17th. Inserra and Roman are both at 10-over for the tournament and tied for 31st.

The Greyhounds are slated to begin their third, and final, round on Sunday with tee times starting at 9:48 a.m.
