Savio, Rezanka Draw Final Weekly Honors Of Patriot League Regular-Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland's Bailey Savio and Payton Rezanka were named the Patriot League's Faceoff Specialist and Defensive Player of the Week as a part of the final weekly honors handed out by the conference in 2022.
 
The duo was key in the Greyhounds' 13-12 overtime victory over Lehigh University on Friday night. They will be in action on Tuesday as Loyola opens the Patriot League Championships with a quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. against Bucknell University at Ridley Athletic Complex.
 
Savio was outstanding on Friday night, winning 17 of 28 faceoffs (60.4 percent) against a Lehigh team that entered the game ranked No. 2 in the nation in faceoff winning percentage. He had a game-high eight ground balls, and he also scored a goal.
 
His goal came in the third quarter to snap a 4-1 Lehigh run and spark a 4-0 stretch by the Greyhounds. Savio also won arguably the biggest draw of the game, coming after Loyola scored with 29 seconds left in regulation, he won possession with a clamp and throw to Ryan McNulty on the wing to help Loyola get the ball en route to the win.
 
Rezanka had a big game in the defensive midfield for the Greyhounds, finishing with a game-high three caused turnovers Friday night.
 
The senior from San Diego also had six ground balls, four coming on the defensive end of the field and two on the wings of faceoffs as he helped Loyola win more than 60 percent at the dot.
