BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland's
Max Watkinson earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition on Monday, two days after a 15-save effort in the Greyhounds' 10-8 win at College of the Holy Cross.
Watkinson made nine of his saves in the second half and had a pair in the fourth quarter to preserve the Greyhounds' lead. He turned back shots by Owen Tunney and Bo Webster in the final five minutes with Loyola leading by a goal. The senior from Baltimore also had a caused turnover in the game.
Saturday's game was Watkinson's ninth with 10 or more saves this season and fourth with 15 or more. In 27 career games as a starter, he has 23 with 10 or more stops.
The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 4, for a 12 noon home game against Boston University. The tilt will be the first part of a Loyola doubleheader with Greyhounds' women's lacrosse team hosting Boston College at 3 p.m.
