CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland senior defender Shay Clevenger and graduate student goalkeeper Kaitlyn Larsson have been named the final Patriot League Defender and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, as announced Monday by the League office.
 
The duo helped the Greyhounds hold Navy to just five goals in a 13-5 win over the Midshipmen in the regular-season finale on Thursday, allowing Loyola to capture its eighth Patriot League regular season championship in as many tries.
 
Clevenger captained a defensive unit that shutout Navy for the final 49:03 of play, allowing the Greyhounds to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 13-5 victory. Not only did she finish with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, but she also helped limit the Mids to just 23 shots for the game and a season-low five goals. Navy entered the contest averaging 13.56 goals and a League-best 34.56 shots per game.
 
This marks the first weekly award for Clevenger this season and the second of her career.
 
Larsson had an outstanding game in goal, earning 11 saves while allowing just five goals to Navy, the Mids' lowest scoring output since the 2019 season. She turned back all nine shots she saw over the course of the final 45 minutes to post three-consecutive shutout quarters and finish the game with a 5.00 goals-against average and a .688 save percentage.
 
This marks the third weekly award for Larsson this season and the seventh of her career.
 
Loyola, the top-seed in the 2022 Patriot League Tournament, will host fifth-seeded Lehigh on Thursday at 3 p.m. No. 2 seed Army West Point and No. 3 seed Navy will take the field at 7 p.m. with the winners facing off in the nationally televised Championship Game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
