Kluegel Named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, WLAX Places Six On All-Academic Team

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Graduate student Elli Kluegel has been named the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year for women's lacrosse, while the seventh-ranked Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team placed six Greyhounds on the 14-member Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the League office Wednesday.

Graduate students Sam Fiedler, Kaitlyn Larsson and Livy Rosenzweig, and seniors Katie Detwiler and Jillian Wilson joined Kluegel on the conference's All-Academic Team.

Kluegel, the 2021 Patriot League Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for all sports, repeats as the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year, bringing the honor to the Greyhounds for the sixth time in the last seven years. The two-time All-Patriot League Second Team midfielder has turned in 35 goals and 43 points this season, and she ranks eighth in the NCAA in shot percentage (.603). A CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2021, Kluegel was the lone Loyola student-athlete to graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring, as she earned a degree in biology with an innovation and entrepreneurship minor. As a graduate student, she continues to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing a masters in emerging media.

Fiedler is also making her second appearance on the Patriot League All-Academic Team, as she boasts a perfect 4.0 on her graduate program; business administration with a concentration in interdisciplinary business. The 2021 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and three-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree, Fiedler has contributed at least a point in all but one game this year, recording four hat tricks, seven five-plus point games and six multiple-assist performances. A 2021 graduate, Fiedler earned her degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in forensic studies.

Larsson is making her second-straight appearance on the Patriot League All-Academic Team. The two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year posted four wins over nationally ranked opponents this season and ranks second in the NCAA with a 7.94 goals-against average and eighth with a .500 save percentage. A 2021 graduate, Larsson earned her degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and a minor in information systems. As a graduate student, she maintains a perfect 4.0 while pursuing a master's in business administration and a concentration in data analytics and digital technologies.

Rosenzweig is being named to the all-academic team for the first time in her career, as she has posted a 3.75 GPA throughout her master's program in clinical professional counseling. After graduating in spring 2021 with a degree in psychology and a minor in innovation and entrepreneurship, Rosenzweig was one of only 30 students selected for her graduate program. A three-time Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist and three-time IWLCA All-American, Rosenzweig recently became the eighth player in Patriot League history to earn four first-team all-conference honors throughout their career. She will conclude her career as the Patriot League's career points and assists leader, as she currently ranks fourth in the NCAA with 215 assists and tied for fourth with 413 points.

Detwiler earns her second-consecutive Patriot League All-Academic Team accolade after being named the Patriot League Defender of the Year for a second time. A three-time all-conference honoree and two-time first-team selection, Detwiler is the Greyhounds' top match-up defender and one of only five defenders nationally to be named a Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist. The two-time IWLCA All-American maintains a 3.67 GPA in business management with a marketing concentration.

Wilson was voted to the Patriot League All-Academic Team for the first time in her career, as she maintains a 3.645 GPA while pursuing a degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing. The Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, Wilson earned her second-consecutive first-team all-League honor after leading the Greyhounds – and ranking 14th nationally – with 111 draw controls. A Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree, Wilson also leads the team in ground balls (26) and ranks third in goals (34) and fourth in points (45).

Loyola will open Patriot League Tournament play tomorrow when it hosts Lehigh in the semifinal round. Opening draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex.
