Raleigh, NC -- The Loyola Greyhounds men's soccer team traveled to face the NC State Wolfpack on Friday night for its season opener. Despite out-shooting the Wolfpack, the Greyhounds dropped the match, 2-0.
In the first half, the Greyhounds controlled most of the half as they held a good portion of the possession. The Greyhounds also had more shots than the Wolfpack, 5-2, but the Greyhounds and Wolfpack played to a draw at the break. In his first start with the Greyhounds,
Konstantinos Parisis tallied two saves in the first half.
The second half started out much of the same with the Greyhounds once again out shooting the Wolfpack in the second half 6-4, as well as having an advantage in possession. Despite this, the Wolfpack converted on a shot from Conor Kelly in the 77th minute to take a 1-0 lead. On a counter-attack in the 87th minute, the Wolfpack would close out the game off of a Junior Nare goal to make it a 2-0 lead.
Daniel Tshiani lead the team with 3 shots on the night, and
Albert Kang had two.
The Greyhounds outshot the Wolfpack, 11-6, on the night, and they tallied 5 corner kicks to NC State's 2.
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Monday as they travel to face off against Delaware.
