Men's Soccer Scores Three Goals in 10 Minutes in Road Win Over Delaware

Newark, DE -- The Loyola Greyhounds men's soccer team traveled to face off against the Delaware Blue Hens on Monday night. After a back and forth first half, the Greyhounds managed to get on the board late in the first half, before adding two quickly after halftime on their way to a 3-0 win.

In the first half, both teams did not have many chances early on as both teams could not secure many shots early on. In the 40th minute, the Greyhounds managed to finally break through the Blue Hens defense as a pass into the box from Danilo Seglio found the foot of Johan Granados who laid the ball back for Loc San to bury the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal to take a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Shortly after halftime, the Greyhounds got back on the board after a beautiful ball from Eddy Rodriguez lead Daniel Tshiani behind the Blue Hen defense, where he laid the ball off for Kelan Swales to bury it to take a 2-0 lead.

Less than two minutes later, Kelan Swales took a shot at goal from a free kick which was saved by Delaware, but they could not possess it as Albert Kang got ahold of the rebound and got it past the goalie to make it a 3-0 Greyhound lead.

The Greyhounds controlled much of the second half as they out-shot Delaware 9-4 in the second half. In total, the Greyhounds had 11 shots on the night to the Blue Hens 5. Delaware did have more corners then the Greyhounds as they tallied 7 to the Loyola 5.

Alex Bobocea got the start in goal tonight, and although he was not tested much, he did have a save on the night, en route to a shutout. Kelan Swales led the team with 4 shots on the night, as Loc San had 3 shots of his own. Eddy Rodriguez, Kelan Swales, Danilo Seglio, Johan Granados, and Daniel Tshiani all had an assist on the night. Jordy Luchies was the lone Greyhound to play all 90 minutes on the night.

The Greyhounds will be back in action on Friday, September 2nd as they will host Old Dominion for their home opener.
