BALTIMORE – Loyola University Maryland and Fordham University combined for 27 shots on Tuesday in a non-conference match, but neither team registered a goal, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw at Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Greyhounds (2-1-2 overall) managed an 18-9 advantage in shots, but the Rams (2-1-3) had a 4-3 lead in those on goal and a 5-3 margin in corner kicks.
Alex Bobocea logged his second individual clean sheet – Loyola's third total this season – by making four saves in goal for the Greyhounds; Demetri Skoumbakis had three saves for Fordham.
Loyola turned up the offensive pressure to start the second half, garnering its best scoring chance in the 47
th minute.
Daniel Tshiani ran onto a pass at the top of the 18 and got a shot off while drawing contact from a defender. The shot, however, was saved by Skoumbakis to preserve the tie.
Milan Miric and
Kelan Swales each had shots saved by Skoumbakis, as well, in the 70
th and 71
st minutes. Swales led Loyola with seven total shots.
Loyola opens Patriot League matches on Saturday, September 17, at 7 p.m. with a game at Army West Point.
