Willis' First Career Goal Proves to be Game Winner as Greyhounds Beat Navy on the Road

Annapolis, MD -- The Loyola Greyhounds women's soccer team traveled to face the Navy Midshipmen on Wednesday night. Zoe Willis scored her first career goal as the Greyhounds beat Navy 1-0.

In the first half, both team's defenses played strong as neither team had many chances. In the first half, Navy had 7 shots, while Loyola only had 4. In total, Navy only had 2 shots on goal, while Loyola only had one shot on goal.

In the second half, the pace picked up slightly for the Greyhounds as they had picked up the momentum on the offensive end. In the second half, the Greyhounds out-shot the Midshipmen 8-4. The momentum fully turned as Baylee DeSmit delivered a cross off of a corner kick, that found Ada Clare Tempert, who headed it as it found Zoe Willis who flicked the ball in passed the goalie to take a 1-0 lead.

From there, the Greyhounds defense stepped up and managed to continue their shutout streak as they went on to win 1-0. Paige Sim added 3 saves on their night, en route to her 5th straight shutout, and her 6th of the season. Baylee DeSmit and Michaela Virgin both had 3 shots on the night. DeSmit had her 2nd assist of the season, while Tempert had her 1st of the season.

The Greyhounds will be back home this Saturday as they host Army West Point for Alumni Day.
