Baltimore, MD -- The Loyola Greyhounds women's soccer team hosted the Army West Point Black Knights on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds scored a goal early in the second half, but could not hold off the Black Knights as they battled to a tie, 1-1.
Both teams had their share of chances in the first half, as the Greyhounds out-shot the Black Knights 5-4 in the first half. Despite this, neither team could find the back of the net. Both
Kelly Hutton and
Baylee DeSmit had great looks in the first half, but could not find the back of the net.
In the second half, both team's offenses were more aggressive, as the Greyhounds out-shot the Black Knights 8-6. The Greyhounds finally found the back of the net, as
MK Barnes sent in a ball off of a free kick, that found
Alex Searing, who got her head on it, which found
Kelly Hutton as she put the Greyhounds on the board to take a 1-0 lead.
The Greyhounds had a few more chances in the second half, including a good shot from
Delaney DeMartino, which resulted in a diving save from the Black Knights. In the 87th minute, the Black Knights tied it up, as Keira Vesy scored from well outside of the box, and found the top right corner, right out of reach of
Paige Sim; which ended the Greyhounds 5-game shutout streak. The Greyhounds attempted a last second attack for the win, which resulted in another great chance from
Kelly Hutton off of a cross, but another diving save from the Black Knights led to a 1-1 draw.
Kelly Hutton added her third goal of the season, while
MK Barnes added her 2nd assist of the season, and
Alex Searing added her first.
Paige Sim added 3 saves on the day, as
