Paige Sim made seven saves to backstop a Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team that played visiting Kent State University to a 0-0 draw on Sunday evening at Ridley Athletic Complex.
Sim made two saves in the final four minutes on a chance by Kent State from just outside the six. She first turned away an attempt by Kelsey Salopek, and she then stopped a shot by Siena Stambolich.
The Golden Flashes (0-3-2 overall) had opportunities by Tianna Harris and Abby Breitschuh after those two shots, but both were off frame.
Kent State had a 16-7 advantage in shots during the game, but the Golden Flashes had a slim advantage in possession, 53 percent to 47 percent.
Loyola (2-3-1) had two of its best scoring opportunities in the match's final 15 minutes.
MK Barnes's strong header from the top of the six off a
Payton Hurley corner kick went just over the cross bar in the 76
th minute, and
Sarah Mirr then cut in from the left side to place a hard shot on goal in the 86
th, but it was saved cleanly by Sarah Melen.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Thursday, September 8, to host Howard University at 7 p.m.
