Baltimore, MD -- The Bucknell Bison used an 14-0 run that lasted over four minutes, from the end of the third to the 6:32 mark in the fourth, to pull ahead of the Greyhounds. The Greyhounds could not overcome the late deficit, as the Bison went on to win 56-50.
Kelly Ratigan knocked down back-to-back three pointers late in the second quarter to take a 24-22 lead with :52 seconds remaining in the first half. Emma Shaffer responded for the Bison late in the quarter as both teams went into halftime tied at 24-24.
Lex Therien started the third quarter strong, as she knocked down a jumper at the 7:35 mark. She followed that up with another jumper on the next possession, followed by a free throw as the Greyhounds took an 29-26 lead in the third quarter. After the Bison took an 32-31 lead with 3:43 left in the third quarter,
Lex Therien scored on a layup to retake the lead. She extended the Greyhounds lead with a pair of free throws as the Greyhounds led 35-32.
The Bison used a 14-0 run over the next four and a half minutes, that ran from the 1:02 mark in the third quarter to the 6:32 mark in the fourth quarter, to take control of the game as they led 46-35. The Greyhounds attempted a comeback, as a
Devyne Newman jumper cut the deficit down to six points with 4:48 left, but the Greyhounds could not get closer, as the Bison went on to win 56-50.
Kelly Ratigan scored a career-high 15 points on 6-10 shooting, including 3-5 from three-point range on the night.
Lex Therien scored 9 of her 13 points in the third quarter, while she also added 7 rebounds.
Devyne Newman added 12 points on the night for the Greyhounds, while
Taleah Dixon had a game-high 5 assists.
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Saturday, as they travel to face Navy at 2:00 pm.
