Women's Basketball Battles Against the Crusaders, but Can't Overcome Late Run

Baltimore, MD -- Simone Foreman was the lone Crusader in double-figures on Sunday afternoon, as the freshman guard scored a career high 17 points en route to the Crusaders 53-46 win, on Sunday afternoon at Reitz Arena. 

Koi Sims cut the Greyhounds deficit down to three points with 2:05 remaining in the fourth quarter, as they trailed 49-46. The Greyhounds had three chances on the following two possessions, but could not convert. The Crusaders managed to ice the game from the free throw line, as Cara McCormack and Simeone Foreman both made two free throws late to win 53-46. 

Lex Therien posted her eighth double-double of the season, as she tied a game-high with 17 points and 10 rebounds. 

Taleah Dixon added 12 points on the day, while also added two rebounds and tying a career-high with five assists. 

Koi Sims had a game high 12 rebounds on the day, while also adding six points and two assists.  

Kelly Ratigan knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter, with her second three-pointer tying the game at 33-33 with 5:39 remaining in the quarter. The Crusaders responded with an 7-0 run to extend their lead to seven points. The Greyhounds answered back with a 5-0 run of their own, as they trailed 41-38 going into the fourth quarter. 

The Crusaders maintained the momentum in the second quarter, as they managed to extend their lead to 25-17 with 6:20 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds battled back over the last five minutes of the quarter, as they used an 7-0 run to cut their deficit down to two points, as the Greyhounds trailed 27-25 going into the halftime.

The Greyhounds started the first quarter strong, by jumping out to an 7-3 lead with 6:32 left in the first quarter. The Greyhounds continued their strong start as they extended their lead to 13-7 after a Taleah Dixon layup with 3:07 left in the quarter. The Crusaders battled back late in the first, however, as they led 16-15 after the first quarter.

The Greyhounds will be back in action on Wednesday night, as the Greyhounds will host Bucknell at 7:00 PM in Retiz Arena.
