Therien Named to Preseason All-Patriot League Team

Bethlehem, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland junior forward was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team on Thursday, one of five players in the conference to garner the honor.

Therien, a junior out of Marlton, New Jersey, earned All-Patriot League Second Team, for the second straight year in 2022-23, her sophomore season with the Greyhounds. She started all 31 games, averaging a double-double with 15.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. She shot 49.1 percent from the field and registered career bests in all three categories.

Therien broke the Loyola single season rebounding record last season, finishing the season with 344 rebounds (251 defensive, 93 offensive). She also eclipsed the 500 career points and 500 career points threshold. 

Her scoring and rebounding measured at the Patriot League and national levels, as well, in 2022-23. Therien was second in the conference in rebounds and rebounds per game while finishing fourth in points per game. Nationally, she was 11th in NCAA Division I in rebounds per game, 10th in defensive rebounds per game, 12th in overall rebounds and 12th in total double-doubles (18).

The Greyhounds were picked to finish in ninth place in the preseason poll, after receiving 40 total points in the poll.

Therien becomes the first Greyhound since joining the Patriot League to be named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team in back-to-back seasons. The Greyhounds will start the season on the road against West Virginia on November 7 and then host Binghamton on November 12 at 5:00 PM for their home opener. Loyola will begin conference play on January 3, with a home matchup against Colgate at 7:00 PM.
