Taleah Dixon knocked down a pull-up jumper with 7:36 left in the fourth quarter to give Loyola women's basketball a 51-49 lead, and her basket started an 11-2 run for the Greyhounds, as they pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat Lafayette for the first time since February 16, 2019.
Dixon had six of her 20 points during the fourth quarter, including a driving layup through contact with 2:45 left in the fourth quarter, as the Greyhounds extended their lead to 56-51.
Dixon knocked down a deep three-pointer early in the third quarter, as
Devyne Newman followed it up with a layup, as the Greyhounds led 37-31 with 8:07 left in the third quarter. The Leopards regained the lead with 4:31 left in the third, thanks to a Kay Donahue three-pointer.
Devyne Newman knocked down a jumper with five seconds left in the third quarter, as teams were tied up 47-47 going into the fourth.
Taleah Dixon had a game-high 20 points on the night.
Lex Therien added 17 points and a season/career high 20 rebounds on the night.
Bri Rozzi also was in double-figures with 10 points.
The Greyhounds tallied a season-high 20 assists on the night.
Kelly Ratigan knocked down back-to-back three-pointers in the second quarter, as her second three-pointer tied the game at 31-31 with 3:54 left. Both defenses finished the half strong, as a Dixon free-throw was the only points in the last 3:54 of the second quarter.
Taleah Dixon set the tone for the game early, as she knocked down two three-pointers within the first two minutes of the game. Dixon finished the first quarter with eight points, while Therien finished the quarter with 7 points.
