BALTIMORE – Nine Loyola University Maryland men's lacrosse players scored goals, and four had two, as the Greyhounds built a 12-3 lead early in the fourth quarter and went on to a 13-8 victory over No. 9 Johns Hopkins University at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Eric Pacheco and Matthew MInicus scored in the game's first 11 minutes as the 12
th-ranked Greyhounds built a 3-0 lead and never looked back.
Dylan Binney scored his second goal of the second quarter – for his first career two-goal game – with 2:51 left in the period to move the lead to 6-1.
Johns Hopkins (2-2 overall) got a Matt Collison goal with 1:56 remaining in the first half to make it a four-goal margin at halftime, but
Seth Higgins opened up scoring in the third with an extra-man goal at 11:18, sparking a 5-0 Loyola run.
Higgins, Binney and James all had two goals for Loyola (2-0).
Loyola's defense limited the number of shots the Blue Jays took. Johns Hopkins had only 12 in the first half and 19 through three quarters.
Luke Staudt made 10 saves against just five goals allowed for Loyola.
Freeman Whitaker had three saves in relief.
Loyola forced 17 Johns Hopkins turnovers, 13 of them caused by Greyhounds players.
Cam Wyers was credited for three and three ground balls, while
Matt Hughes caused three and matched
Eric Pacheco for team-high honors with seven ground balls.
Payton Rezanka also had two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Pacheco went 11 of 17 on faceoffs for the Greyhounds.
James was the first to score for Loyola, finishing off an
Adam Poitras assist, and Pacheco then won the draw control, got into the box and scored his first collegiate goal with a bouncer at 11:22 in the first.
Minicus then got one off a
Davis Lindsey assist with 4:30 to go in the quarter before Brendan Grimes scored the Blue Jays' first with 28 ticks on the clock.
Binney used a James assist to score his first at 9:49 in the second, and then Higgins caught an
Austin Cote pass to score 31 seconds later. Binney made it a 6-1 Loyola lead with 2:51 left in the half, going low-to-low with the shot-clock expiring. The Blue Jays again had the quarter's last goal to break up a Loyola 3-0 run when Matt Collison scored 1:56 to go before halftime.
Loyola came out quickly in the second half, scoring the first five of the third quarter. Higgins posted his second with an extra-man goal,
Max McGillicuddy caused a turnover and stayed on in transition to get one, and then
Luke Murphy scored on extra-man for his first collegiate goal.
Mustang Sally had another transition goal for the Greyhounds, his second in as many games, off a
Payton Rezanka assist at 2:30. James then posted his second of the day with
Will McCulloch assisting.
Garrett Degnon broke the run for Johns Hopkins with a goal three seconds before the end of the third quarter.
Minicus got it back to a nine-goal lead for Loyola, 12-3, with a goal 34 seconds into the fourth. Cote scored his first collegiate goal for Loyola's last tally with 5:09 on the clock.
All told, 13 Loyola players had points in the game. Lindsey led the way with two assists.
Loyola will play its first road game of the season on Saturday, February 25, when it heads to Rutgers University.
