Worcester, MA -- The Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team rallied back from a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter to trail by five points with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter. The Greyhounds could not cut into the deficit any further however, as the Greyhounds lost 59-51.
Lex Therien knocked down a pair of free throws with 3:25 left in the game to cut the deficit down to five points, as they trailed 51-46. Kaitlyn Flanagan responded on the next possession for the Crusaders to retake a seven point lead. The Greyhounds went cold on the offensive end to end the game, as they did not make a basket over the last three minutes of game-time, and made five of six free throws to close out the game.
Kelly Ratigan knocked down a pair of free throws with 9:18 left in the third to take a seven point lead early in the third quarter. The Crusaders responded with a 12-0 run over the next 2:25 of game time to take a 33-28 lead with 5:53 remaining. Power-Cassidy scored eight of twelve points during the run for the Crusaders.
Therien scored her first points of the night with 5:17 remaining to end their run. Over the last five minutes of the third quarter, the Crusaders went on an 11-5 run as they extended their lead to nine points going into the fourth quarter. Holy Cross shot 5-6 from the field during the run, including 1-1 from three-point range.
Taleah Dixon had a team-high 14 points on the night.
Kelly Ratigan and
Bri Rozzi added nine points on the night.
Lex Therien had her fifth straight double-digit rebounding game as she had 13 rebounds.
Dixon scored on a contested layup with 8:37 left in the second quarter to give the Greyhounds an 20-13 lead. The Greyhounds maintained their lead the rest of the quarter, as Ratigan knocked down a jumper with 1:04 left in the quarter to give the Greyhounds an 26-21 lead at halftime.
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Saturday for their last conference away game of the regular season when they take on American at 2:00 pm.
