ANNAPOLIS, Md. – A group of Loyola University Maryland men's and women's swimmers competed Thursday at the Navy Long Course Qualifier at the Midshipmen's home pool.
Henry Mueller,
Max Verheyen,
Caro Suarez,
Caleb Kelly, and
Teddy Cross all posted victories for the Greyhounds in their respective races.
Mueller won the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 57.52, besting teammates
Patrick Hayburn (58.16 and Cross (58.25). Verheyen was a winner in the 100-meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:04.81 to edge teammate
Michael Gozdan by one-hundredth of a second.
Suarez took first in the women's 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:51.27, and Kelly was a winner in the men's 100-meter freestyle (52.94). Cross claimed the top spot in the 200-meter backstroke (2:06.80).
Other top finishers for the Greyhounds included Cameron Shinninck, who was second in the men's 100-meter butterfly (55.75) and later came back to swim 55.49 in the event; Veryehen was fourth in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:05.12, and Suarez swam a second 400-meter freestyle in 4:49.22 to finish second.
