Princeton, NJ -- The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team traveled to face Princeton University on Wednesday night to close-out their non-conference schedule. The Greyhounds used a big second and third quarter to cruise past the Tigers, as they move to 11-2 on the season.
In what has been a common theme over the past few games for the Greyhounds, they're offense started the game strong, scoring four goals in the first five minutes of the game. In total, the Greyhounds scored seven goals in the first quarter, scored by four different players.
Chase Boyle,
Sydni Black and
Anna Ruby all scored two goals in the first quarter, with
Jillian Wilson adding the other goal.
The Greyhounds (11-2 overall) offense didn't stop there, as the Greyhounds outscored the Tigers 12-3 in the second and third quarters. Boyle continued her strong play as of late, scoring four of her five goals in the first half.
Emily Wills started the scoring in the second half, as she scored her third goal of the game off of an assist from
Jillian Wilson.
Meg Hillman followed it up with a goal of her own, as the Greyhounds led 15-6 with 12:55 left in the third quarter. From here, the Greyhounds controlled the rest of the game, as they held the Tigers to just one shot in the third quarter.
Chase Boyle tied a career-high with five goals, a mark that she has reached in three of the last four games. She also added an assist on the night for a six-point performance.
Emily Wills had a career-high four goals to go along with a career-high seven points on the night.
Anna Ruby added a hat-trick on the night, while
Jillian Wilson tied a career-high with three assists to go along with a pair of goals.
Georgia Latch had two goals and two assists on the night, while
Sydni Black had two goals and one assist.
Meg Hillman and
Sarah Engle both added goals on the night.
The Greyhounds once again controlled the draw control battle, as they won 21-11 in draw controls.
Jillian Wilson tied a career-high with 14 draw controls on the night, while
Katie Detwiler had seven. The Greyhounds also had 12 assists on the night, compared to just one assist for the Tigers.
The Tigers (5-6 overall) were led by Abigail Roberts who had four goals on the night. Nina Montes also added a hat-trick for the Tigers.
The Greyhounds will be back at Ridley for Patriot League action on Saturday, as the Greyhounds welcome No. 15 Army.
