Lewisburg, PA -- The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team scored the first six goals in their matchup against Bucknell University on Wednesday evening. The Greyhounds offense controlled the pace all game, as they went on to win 21-5, to improve to 13-2 and 7-0 in the Patriot League.
The Greyhounds (13-2 overall) offense continued their trend of big first quarters, as they scored nine goals in the first quarter.
Georgia Latch and
Sydni Black led the attack in the first quarter, as Black had a hat-trick in the quarter, and Latch had two goals and two assists in the quarter. In total, six different Greyhounds scored in the first quarter, including
Katie Detwiler, who scored with under a second left in the quarter, thanks to an assist from
Chase Boyle.
The offense continued to click in the second quarter, as
Meg Hillman scored with 12:58 left in the second quarter. Latch didn't wait long to add her third goal, as she tallied a hat-trick just 31 seconds after Hillmans goal. Much like the end of the first quarter, the Greyhounds capped off the quarter with a late goal, as Alana Wray scored with 15 seconds remaining in the half, as they took an 13-3 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw the Greyhounds defense stifle the Bison offense, as they held them to just six shots and did not allow a goal. Latch continued her big game with a pair of highlight goals, to tie her season-high with five goals.
Latch led the way with eight points on the day (five goals and three assists).
Sydni Black added four goals and one assist, while
Chase Boyle,
Meg Hillman, and
Anna Ruby all had two goals on the day. Alana Wray,
Jillian Wilson,
Emily Wills,
Regan Kielmeyer,
Sarah Engle and
Katie Detwiler all scored goals in the game.
Lauren Spence had another great game for the Greyhounds, tallying eight saves and just three goals allowed.
Makenzie Butler also added four saves and allowed just two goals.
The Greyhounds controlled the possession once again, as they won the draw control battle 20-8.
Jillian Wilson had 9 draw controls, while
Sydni Black had 5 draw controls.
Katie Detwiler and
Chase Boyle both had two draw controls of their own.
The Bison (6-8 overall) were led by Tatumn Kohlbrenner who had two goals and an assist on the day.
The Greyhounds will be back at home on Saturday, as they will host Lafayette for Senior Day.
