Women's Lax Has Five Players Earn ILWomen All-America Honors

Baltimore, Md. -- Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse graduate students Jillian Wilson and Katie Detwiler, junior Sydni Black, and sophomore's Georgia Latch and Lauren Spence earn ILWomen All-America honors, which was announced on Thursday morning. Wilson picked up her first-ever first-team honor, while Detwiler was named second team, Latch earned third team honors, and Black and Spence were named honorable mention.

Wilson is a true two-way player who also leads the team at the draw. She is one of three midfielders named to the first-team. She's helped the team rank seventh in the country in goals and first in the NCAA in draw control percentage. Wilson also ranks fourth in the NCAA in draw controls per game. A Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist and two-time Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, leads the team in goals, with 60, second in points, with 79, caused turnovers, with 19, and draw controls, with 193.

Detwiler has been one of the top match-up defenders in the NCAA. She was one of eight defenders honored to be named a Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist this season. The three-time Patriot League Defender of the Year, three-time all-region honoree and four-time all-conference selection, Detwiler has captained the second ranked defense in the NCAA, as the Greyhounds are allowing just 6.66 goals per game. Detwiler has been tasked with guarding some of the top players in the country, including two fellow Tewaaraton Award Nominees, as Detwiler held Emma LoPinto without a point and Meaghan Tyrrell to two goals, with one of them being a free position goal. She has also held Army's Brigid Duffy without a shot, and Georgetown's Erin Bakes scoreless.

Latch earned her first ILWomen all-america accolade this season after leading the Greyhounds in assists, with 43, and points, with 87. The Patriot League Attacker of the Year, two-time All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree, and two-time First Team All-Patriot League honoree scored at least two points in all but three games this season, including scoring a hat-trick in eight games and multiple assist performances in 12 games.

Black is making her first appearance on the ILWomen all-america team after having a standout season for the Greyhounds. Black is third on the team in goals, with 53, and second on the team in points, with 79. With a .486 shooting percentage, she has helped the Greyhounds boast the sixth best team in the NCAA in shooting efficiency. The first team All-Patriot League selection has scored all but two points in every game this season, recording 10 hat-tricks, including her current five-straight hat-trick streak. She has also had five multi-assist performances and six five-plus point games.

Spence picks up her first all-america accolade after being the top-ranked goalkeeper in the Patriot League in goals allowed this season. Ranking second nationally with a 6.69 goals against average and third nationally with a .534 save percentage. Spence has held 17 of 21 opponents to single-digit goals on the season, including the last eight opponents, and 13 of 14 opponents during their 14-game win streak. Spence was voted as the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year for the first time in her career. She posted seven wins over nationally ranked opponents this year, three double-digit save performances, and 18 shutout quarters.
