BALTIMORE – The Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team announced its 2023 schedule on Tuesday, a slate that will include nine home matches at Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Greyhounds begin their campaign on August 24 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where they will face North Carolina in a rematch of a 2021 NCAA College Cup First Round game that ended in a tie with the Tar Heels advancing via penalty kicks.
Delaware comes to Ridley Athletic Complex on August 27 to open Loyola's home slate before the Greyhounds go on the road to face their second Atlantic Coast Conference team of the season. Loyola will play at Virginia Tech on August 31.
A pair of teams from the Garden State are next Loyola when NJIT and Princeton come to Ridley on September 5 and September 8 to face the Greyhounds.
Loyola will visit Fordham on September 11 before returning home for its next two matches. The Greyhounds will host Navy in their first Patriot League game of the season on September 16 before facing Penn, a team that reached the NCAA College Cup Second Round last year, on September 19.
The next two matches will be on the road for Loyola where they will play at Colgate on September 23 and Bucknell on September 27.
Loyola is back at Ridley for a September 30 match against Army West Point before heading on the road to face West Virginia of the Big 12 Conference on October 4.
Holy Cross is next up for Loyola in a home Patriot League match on October 7, and the Greyhounds will then travel to Lehigh (October 14) and St. Joseph's (October 17).
Two of the final three during the regular season will be at home for Loyola as they host Lafayette (October 21) and American (November 1), sandwiching a game at Boston University on October 28.
The Patriot League Championships begin November 4 with the quarterfinal round featuring the three, four, five and six seeds at the higher seeded teams. Winners of those matches will move on to play in the semifinals on November 7 at the top two seeds, and the championship match will be held on November 11.
