Lewisburg --
Milan Miric and
Danilo Seglio both scored within the first 20 minutes of the first half on Wednesday evening, as Loyola University Maryland held on for a 3-1 win on the road over Bucknell University, as the Greyhounds move to 2-0-1 in the Patriot League.
"The boys showed a lot of grit on the road, back-to-back road wins and a lot of travel over past couple days," said Head Coach
Steve Nichols. "When it counted we showed our quality, that's why we ended up with three goals on the evening."
The first goal came in the eighth minute, after the Greyhounds (2-1-6 overall, 2-0-1 Patriot League) drew a corner kick,
Danilo Seglio sent in a cross, where the ball took a deflection before falling in front of
Milan Miric, who managed to get to the loose ball and shoot it to the right of the goalkeeper for his first career goal with the Greyhounds.
The Greyhounds added their second goal of the game in the 19th minute, as they got possession in their defensive third.
Thomas Gray then passed it to
Sean McEvoy, who then sent a long leading pass up field, where
Danilo Seglio was able to run onto it, who then finished with a outside the foot shot for his first goal of the season.
The Greyhounds continued to press on the offensive end, forcing a Bison (1-7-1 overall, 0-3 Patriot League) save as well as a goal line clear. The Greyhounds held the Bison to without a shot on goal in the first half, until the Bison's Mason Lillis drew a foul in the box for a penalty kick, where Matthew Owusu scored, as the Greyhounds went into halftime up 2-1.
In the first ten minutes of the second half, the Greyhounds had a pair of looks on goal, but one was blocked by the Bison defense, and the other went just wide.
The Greyhounds defense continued to limit the Bison attack, limiting them to just four shots on the half. After the Greyhounds forced a Bison turnover in the 75th minute, the
Jordy Luchies sent a long ball that found it's way past the Bison defense, and as a Bison defender went to pass it back to their goalkeeper,
Jake Sweeney stepped in and was able to poke the ball around the goalkeeper for his first goal of the season. The Greyhounds would hold on as they won 3-1 over the Bison.
Dylan Van der Walt recorded three saves on the night, as the Greyhounds out shot the Bison 14-8 on the night.
The Greyhounds have now gone seven games without a loss, as they move to 2-0-3 on the road.
Patriot League play will continue on Saturday, as the Greyhounds will host Army at 12:00 PM.
