Baltimore --
Delaney DeMartino,
Malia Tarazon,
Chloe Kuminkoski, and
Baylee DeSmit scored for the Loyola University Mayland women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon, as the Greyhounds improved to 4-0 in Patriot League play with a 4-0 victory over visiting Colgate at Ridley Athletic Complex.
With the shutout today,
Paige Sim recorded her 30th career shutout, which ties Erin Gilroy (1994-97) for the most career shutouts in Loyola women's soccer history.
DeMartino put the Greyhounds in front with a goal in the 25th minute, thanks to a perfectly executed give-and-go with
Elizabeth Gallagher. DeMartino shot at goal, that deflected off of the diving Colgate goalkeeper, as it bounced in for her fourth goal of the season.
The Greyhounds (9-2 overall, 4-0 Patriot League) did not wait long to add another goal, as
Malia Tarazon scored her first career goal for the Greyhounds. Tarazon ran onto a long pass from
Jess Korman, as she managed to get around the Raiders (2-9-2 overall, 1-2-1 Patriot League) defender, and fired it in with her left foot for the goal.
The Greyhounds out shot the Raiders 7-2 in the first half as they led 2-0 at halftime.
After both teams were limited in the first 20 minutes of the first half, the Greyhounds scored two goals within 30 seconds. The first goal came from
Chloe Kuminkoski, who managed to deflect the
Elizabeth Gallagher cross just over the Raiders goalkeeper for her second goal of the season.
Just 26 seconds later,
Nele Raap drew a penalty for the Greyhounds, as
Baylee DeSmit stepped up and scored her Patriot League leading seventh goal of the season.
Paige Sim and the Greyhounds defense recorded their seventh shutout of the season, including a shutout in three of the last four games.
The Greyhounds continue Patriot League play next Friday, as they travel to face off against Army West Point at 5:00 PM.
