Perry, Brennan Post Career-Highs In Road Win At Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Garrett Brennan made his first career start and scored a career-high 15 with a huge 3-pointer late, and Deon Perry matched his top scoring effort with 30 points, as Loyola University Maryland held off the U.S. Naval Academy for a 74-70 road win at Alumni Hall.

Alonso Faure tipped out an offensive rebound to Brennan, and the sophomore swished a 28-plus foot 3-pointer as the shot clock expired, giving Loyola a 67-58 lead with 3:01 to play.

Perry got to his 30 points, matching the total he had earlier this month in a win at Army West Point, by making two free throws with 12 seconds left to secure the win.

Combined, the two were 8 of 12 from 3-point range and 13 of 23 from the field.

Loyola outrebounded the Midshipmen, 41-25, as Faure had nine, Ilic finished with eight and Perry grabbed a career-high seven.

Two Brennan free throws with 12:04 left put Loyola in front by 11, 53-42, and a traditional 3-point play by Perry made it 58-46 with 8:34 on the clock.

Navy, however, got the margin to four, 62-58, on a Mitch Fischer basket in the paint. Loyola responded with a 5-0 run as Perry made two free throws, and Brennan's shot-clock-beating three went in.

The margin again got to four, 67-63, with 1:16 left, but Ilic converted two free throws with 43 ticks left, and David Brown III made a pair with 33 seconds on the clock.

Loyola held Navy (8-11 overall, 4-4 Patriot League) to 39.3 percent shooting from the field, the lowest a Greyhounds Patriot League opponent has shot this year.

Golden Dike led all players with five assists.

The Greyhounds made a season-high 23 free throws while attempting 29 (79.3 percent).

Loyola will be back on the road Wednesday, January 31, when it heads to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, for a 7 p.m. game at Bucknell University.
