Kimmie Hicks recorded her first career double-double for the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, as the Greyhounds outpaced St. Bonaventure University for the 60-42 win on Wednesday afternoon.
Hicks recorded a career-best in points (28) and rebounds (11) on the afternoon for her first career double-double, as she shot 11-19 (2-3 three-pointers) on the afternoon.
Laura Salmeron added 12 points, while
Avery Simmons recorded a personal best five points and four rebounds off of the bench.
The Bonnies (2-4 overall) started the game strong from long range, making their first two three-pointers as they jumped out to a early 6-0 lead. Loyola battled back in the quarter, led by Hicks, as a Laura Salmeron layup tied the game at 10-10 at the end of the first quarter.
After teams traded baskets throughout the second quarter, Hicks and Simmons combined to lead the Greyhounds (4-2 overall) on a 8-0 run to end the second quarter, as they pulled away from the Bonnies to lead 33-25 at the break.
Kimmie Hicks continued her big day to start the second half, as her driving layup pushed the Loyola lead to 10 points. Laura Salmeron came alive halfway through the third quarter, as she scored 7 of 9 points during a 9-0 run, as the Greyhounds pulled away, as they led 44-29 with 3:28 remaining.
The Greyhounds capped off a big third quarter, as they held the Bonnies to just seven points in the quarter, as they shot just 1-11 from the field.
Loyola held on to the lead throughout the fourth quarter, as they held of a late St. Bonaventure rally attempt, as they won 60-42 on the road.
Loyola outscored St. Bonaventure in the paint 36-6 on the afternoon, while also outscoring them in points off of turnovers, 25-10.
The Greyhounds defense held the Bonnies to just 30.4 percent shooting, while they also held their leading scorer Dani Haskell (18.8 ppg) to just two points in the win.
Loyola will travel to face Binghamton on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM to cap off their two-game road trip.
