Baltimore -- The Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team closed out the regular season against Bucknell University on Tuesday evening, as the teams battled to a 0-0 draw.
With the result and those across the league, the Greyhounds secured the No. 6 seed in the Patriot League Championships and will face off against American on Saturday in a match scheduled for 6 p.m. It will be played at
Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland.Â
Bucknell started the game with a early shot on goal, but
Dylan Van der Walt came up with a big save early.
The Greyhounds (4-7-5 overall, 3-3-3 Patriot League) had a pair of good looks 15 minutes into the game, as one of Loyola's best looks came from
Jake Sweeney, as his shot drew the keeper out of the box, but made a save with his body, as the score remained 0-0 early in the game.Â
The Bison (6-6-5 overall, 4-1-4 Patriot League) were held without a shot over the last 25 minutes of the first half, as they entered halftime 0-0.Â
In the second half, both defenses continued to hold strong, as both teams had limited chances at goal. The Bison's lone shot on goal in the second half came in the 75th minute, but Van der Walt came up big once again for the save.Â
Bucknell scored what it thought was the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute, but the goal was called off due to a offsides call by the official, as the game would end in a 0-0 draw.Â
The Greyhounds enter the Patriot Championships as the No. 6 seed, as they take on American on Saturday.Â
