South Bend -- Laura Salmeron scored 19 of her 23 points in the second half for the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, but third-ranked Notre Dame University out paced the Greyhounds for a 97-54 win in non-conference play.
Four players for the Fighting Irish had double-digits, led by Hannah Hidalgo who had 33 points to lead all scorers. Olivia Miles had a triple double (18 pts, 11 reb, 10 ast.) while Liatu King had 18 points, and Liza Karlen added 15 points.
Salmeron finished with 23 points on 10-20 shooting to go along with five rebounds and two steals.
Amandine Amorich aded 13 points on the afternoon.
Koi Sims had 8 points and 8 rebounds, along with a block.
The Greyhounds (5-5 overall) tied the game early in the first quarter after
Koi Sims scored on a layup. Notre Dame responded with a 13-0 run to take the 17-4 lead halfway throught the first quarter.
Marta Espinal connected on a three-pointer in the second quarter to cut their deficit down to 14 points. Both teams traded baskets over the final seven minutes of the first half, as Notre Dame led 42-24 at the half.
Notre Dame continued their momentum in the second half, as they held on to win 97-54.
The Greyhounds will close out non-conference play on December 30 as they host Haverford at 2:00 pm.
