Emmitsburg, MD --
Amandine Amorich tied a career-best with 19 points on Saturday afternoon for the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, but a third quarter run by Mount St. Mary's University lifted them to the 65-48 non-conference win.
Amorich stuffed the stat sheet on Saturday afternoon, as she finished with a game-high 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block.
Koi Sims added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the game, while
Kimmie Hicks and Laura Salmeron had 7 points each.
It was a defensive battle in the first half, as both teams were held to under 30 points in the first half. After teams traded a pair of baskets to start the second half, the Mountaineers (1-6 overall) went on a 19-1 run over the final 8:40 of the third quarter, as they jumped out to a 50-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Greyhounds (5-4 overall) opened the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run as they cut into the Mount St. Mary's lead, but could not finish the fourth quarter comeback on the road.
Loyola will be back in action on December 22 as they will travel to face Notre Dame at 12:00 PM. They will follow it up with their non-conference finale on December 30 when they host Haverford.
