Golf Moves Up Leaderboard Monday At Mobile Bay Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Alabama – Loyola University Maryland golf moved up to fourth place at the end of the second day of competition at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Monday at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Falls Course.

Teams completed the second round on Monday afternoon and then began the third and final round originally scheduled for Tuesday. The final 18 was moved up due to forecasted bad weather overnight and into Tuesday morning.

Four Loyola players completed their final round before darkness fell on the course; Carlo Pizzano will play his final two holes on Tuesday.

As a team, Loyola rose from a tie for eighth after the first round on Sunday to a tie for fifth following 36 holes Monday. The Greyhounds enter Tuesday – teams have a varying amount of golf remaining to play in the morning – in solo possession of fourth place at 10-over.

The Greyhounds are five shots back of Oral Roberts in third, three up on Valparaiso in fifth and five ahead of host South Alabama.

Pizzano is tied for fifth as an individual after leading the Greyhounds in both the first and second rounds with even-par 71s on the 7,239-yard course. With two holes remaining in his tournament, he is 2-under in the final round.

Jackson Roman also shot 71 in the second round, and he followed that with another even-par round, birding his final hole to get to level, in the final 18. He is tied for 26th at 4-over.

James Rico is tied for 15th after finishing the final round with a 2-under 69 to round out his tournament at 1-over 214.

Mike Crowley shot a 2-over 73 in the final round and is tied for 59th, while Garrett Kessler is tied for 72nd at 18-over.
