ANNAPOLIS, Md. –
Lily Mead won the 200 backstroke on Sunday, her second victory of the weekend, and was named the Female Swimmer of the Meet at the 2024 ECAC Championships.
Mead went 1:56.98 on Sunday to ease to a win in the event by almost five seconds.
On Friday evening, she won the 400 individual medley, and the two victories helped her become the first person in program history to be named ECAC Female Swimmer of the Meet. Ben Cono was named the Male Swimmer of the Meet in 2017 for the Greyhounds.
In the team race, both the men's and women's teams finished fifth.
The 200 backstroke was a strong event for the Greyhounds on both the women's and men's side.
Stella Meyerhoeffer had a fourth-place finish in 2:05.93, while
Gianna Moscetti finished 14
th in 2:10.27. In the men's race,
Sam Voss took sixth in 1:49.21, just edging teammate
Tie Manuel in seventh (1:50.00).
Josh Stegner was 12
th (1:53.20),
Michael McMahon 14
th (1:54.97) and
Matt Voight 15
th (1:55.72).
Caro Suarez led the Greyhounds women in the 1,650 freestyle, swimming 18:02.75, while
Brooke Shinnick finished 12
th in 18:53.89. Pierre Leroy was seventh in the men's race (16:07.16), while
Peter Weinstein took 10
th (16:07.16).
Brayden Bowen earned an eighth-place finish in the 200 butterfly for the women's team (2:09.86), while
Alana Andress was 10
th (2:08.32).
Lane Bradshaw finished 13
th in 1:54.39.
Morgan Fuerbacher scored a 15
th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke for the women in 2:27.38, and
Haylee Zinger was 16
th (2:32.14).
Liam Morris took 16
th in the men's portion of the race (2:04.38).
Hans Van Lierop was 16
th in the 100 freestyle, swimming 46.21.
The men's 400 freestyle relay –
Riley Coyle, John Inman, Van Lierop and Joey Zellner – finished fourth in 3:02.10, while the women's relay – Meyerhoeffer,
Izzy Barnette,
Emily Colyar and
Maddie Testa – took sixth (3:32.60).
