O'Banion Named Patriot League Coach of the Year, Therien and Hicks Earn Patriot League Honors

Bethlehem – The Patriot League announced their women's basketball postseason awards on Friday afternoon, as Head Coach Danielle O'Banion, Lex Therien, and Kimmie Hicks were all recognized.
 
O'Banion, along with her coaching staff -- Katherine Bixby, Diana Martinez, and Annalese Lamke -- was named Coach of the Year. She is the first Greyhounds coach to be named Coach of the Year since joining the Patriot League.
 
O'Banion led the Greyhounds to their best season with in her three seasons at the helm, finishing the regular season with a 5-game improvement from last season. Loyola finished the regular season 15-14 (10-8 Patriot League), which is their most Patriot League wins since the 2015-16 season (11 wins). After being picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll, Loyola had its best ever finish in the Patriot League, tying for 2nd place during the regular season. Lastly, it is the Greyhounds first regular season with a winning record since the 2010-11 season.
 
Therien was named to the First Team All-Patriot League, her first, First Team honor. Therien finished the regular season with 16.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.44 steals per game average, while also shooting 56.1 percent from the floor, which is the third best percentage in a single-season in program history.
 
She finished fourth in the Patriot League in points per game, second in rebounds per game, and first in field goal percentage. She also finished Patriot League play ranked sixth in free throw percentage, shooting 78.9 from the line against league foes.
 
Hicks was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie Team. Hicks, who turned it on during conference play, averaged 11.7 points per game in Patriot League play, which ranked 15th in the league. Hicks also ranked 5th in the Patriot League in free throw percentage (80.4%) in league play. She had the highest individual scoring performance among freshman this season, totaling 27 points against Boston in an overtime win.

Loyola will enter the Patriot League Championships as the four seed, and will host Lehigh on Monday night at 7:10 PM in Retiz Arena.
