Washington, DC -- The Tewaaraton Foundation Announced their 25 nominees for the Tewaaraton Award on Thursday afternoon, as Loyola University Maryland's
Chase Boyle and
Sydni Black were both named as nominees.
The nominees consist of 25 finalists for the award. It will be narrowed down to five players from this group on May 9 at the conclusion of the regular season.
This is Boyle and Black's first time being named nominees, as both were named to the Watch List earlier this year. Black was also named to the Watch List in 2022 and 2023.
Boyle has had a break out season for the Greyhounds, as she ranks tied for first in goals (61), tied for second in goals per game (4.36), third in draw controls per game (10.5), and 12th in points per game (5.21) in Division I this season. Boyle is a do-it-all midfielder, who leads the team in the circle, on the offensive end, and is also a key piece on the defensive end of the field, where the Greyhounds rank 10th in the country in goals allowed, allowing just 8.57 goals per game. Boyle's dominance in the circle has led the Greyhounds to the number one spot in draw control percentage, as they have won 69.3 percent of all draws this season.
Black is having yet another big season for the Greyhounds, as the senior ranks 7th in points per game (5.43), 8th in goals per game (3.93), and 9th in goals (55). She has already surpassed her career high for goals in a season, and is just five assists high for her single-season high. Black has also been a key piece in the draw circle, as she has grabbed 65 draws on the season, which ranks second on the team, and is dangerous in the midfield, as she is second on the team with 13 caused turnovers on the season.
The Greyhounds close out the regular season with a pair of Patriot League games, as they face Holy Cross on Saturday, followed by their regular season finale at home against Bucknell next Thursday.
