Baylee DeSmit scored a first half goal against George Washington University, as the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team held on for a 1-0 win at home on Thursday evening.
DeSmit scored her second goal of the season in the 14th minute of the first half, as after a
Jess Korman throw in,
Malia Tarazon found DeSmit down the field, as DeSmit managed to find space before shooting to the top right of the goal for the goal.
The Greyhounds (2-1 overall) maintained the majority of the possession in the first half, as they held the Revolutionaries (0-2-1 overall) to zero shots in the first half.
In the second half, the majority of the play happened between the '18 yard boxes, as neither team could find space for a shot.
Tarazon had a good look at goal in the 61st minute, but the shot was saved as Loyola maintained a 1-0 lead.
George Washington recorded their first shot of the game in the 65th minute, but
Brigid Mulholland came up big with the save to preserve the shutout. Mulholland came up big again in the 84th minute, as she came up with another save, as Loyola held on for the 1-0 win.
DeSmit scored her second goal of the season, as
Jess Korman and
Malia Tarazon recorded their first assist of the season.
Mulholland had two saves on the night, as she recorded her second straight shutout.
The Greyhounds will be back in action next Thursday as they travel to face Virginia Tech at 7:00 PM.
