Baloga, Wears Win Maryland Four-Ball Championship

LOTHIAN, Md. – Loyola University Maryland Head Coach Chris Baloga eagled the 18th hole of the 65th-Annual Maryland Four-Ball Championship to tie Assistant Coach Will Wears and him for the tournament lead, and the pair went on to win the event on the sixth playoff hole Monday evening at The Cannon Club.

Baloga and Wears shot 7-under 64 in the tournament to tie Ryan Chacon and Hunter Powell for the lead after 18 holes.

Wears had the team's first eagle of the day with a three on the 581-yard par-5 sixth hole. The duo made the turn at 1-under before Baloga birdied the 10th hole. He then had birdies on the 13th, 14th and 16th holes before the eagle on the final hole of regulation.

The Loyola coaches then went on to convert six-straight pars in the playoff to win after their opponents bogeyed on the sixth extra hole.

Baloga and Wears have played in the last two USGA Four-Ball Championships.

The title is the second Maryland Four-Ball Championship for Baloga who also won in 2010, and it is his third Maryland State Golf Association title (Mid-Amateur, 2010).
