Clemson -- Clemson University scored three first half goals on Tuesday night, as the Loyola University Maryland men's soccer team could not overcome the deficit, as they lost 6-0 in a non-conference matchup.
The Greyhounds (0-3-2 overall) began the game on a strong note, as they had a shot just a minute into the game, but
Caden Stafford's shot was blocked.
The Tigers (2-1-1) scored the opening goal just a minute later, as a Clemson pass took a deflection, as a Tigers player ran onto the ball and shot it into the net, despite the ball taking a deflection off of
Dylan Van der Walt's finger tips.
Clemson would add another at the 19 minute mark, as a cross to the far post found a Clemson attacker, and he fired it in from close range for the 2-0 lead. The Tigers would add their third goal of the half, as a low cross into the box was stopped by Van der Walt but the deflection was put into the goal, as Clemson took a 3-0 lead at half.
Clemson would add another pair of goals early in the second half, before converting a penalty kick late in the half, as the Greyhounds could not find the back of the net and attempt a comeback, as they fell to the defending champs, 5-0.
Loyola will begin Patriot League play on Saturday, as they will face American at 1:00 PM.
