COLLEGE PARK, Md. – A pair of Loyola University Maryland women's tennis players secured a doubles flight championships this weekend, and four Greyhounds finished in the top four of their singles flights as the team opened 2024-25 at the University of Maryland's Bedford Cup.
 
Elena Hartley and Mia Matriccino paired to win the Red Doubles Flight in their first collegiate competition, beating teams from Howard, Mount St. Mary's and George Washington along the way.
 
On the individual side, Emma Roeck took second in Flight 7, Lauren Manwiller and Sophia Moore were third in Flight 6 and 10, respectively, and Lilly Langhus was fourth in Flight 8.
 
Manwiller and Christine Richiez won three matches in the Blue Doubles and captured the Consolation Championship.
 
The Greyhounds will be back in action with another intra-state tournament, playing Friday-Sunday at the Towson Hidden Duals.
