Baltimore -- Baylee DeSmit scored the game-tying goal in the 65th minute on Satuday afternoon for the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team, as the Greyhounds battled to a 1-1 draw against Boston University in their Patriot League opener. 

DeSmit drew a foul just outside of the box in the 64th minute for the Greyhounds (4-2-3 overall, 0-0-1 Patriot League), as she stepped up to the free kick and shot it to the near post for goal to tie the game at 1-1. 

Loyola had a handful of good chances at goal over the last 20 minutes of the game, but could not find the go-ahead goal. DeSmit had another free kick opportunity in the 85th minute, as her shot deflected off of the crossbar before being cleared. Loyola could not find the game-winner of the last five minutes, as they tied 1-1 against Boston. 

The Terriers (0-6-3 overall, 0-0-1 Patriot League) opened the scoring in the 16th minute, as Boston's Margy Porta ran onto a deflected ball and headed the ball over Brigid Mulholland for the opening goal. 

DeSmit followed it up with a early chance on goal, but her first shot of the day was saved thanks to a kick save. 

Loyola's offense began to find some momentum at the end of the first half, registering three corner kicks over the final 10 minutes, but could not find the back of the net, as Loyola trailed 1-0 at halftime. 

DeSmit recorded her Patriot League-leading 7th goal of the season, while Brigid Mulholland recorded a pair of saves on 10 shots faced in the tie. 

The Greyhounds will continue Patriot League play on Wednesday, as they will travel to face Navy at 7:00 PM.
