WEST POINT, N.Y. – Loyola University Maryland completed its first Patriot League road trip of the season with a come-from-behind win at Army West Point, finishing a sweep after a Friday win at Holy Cross.
The Greyhounds trailed two sets to one against the Black Knights before winning the final two for the conference victory. Set scores were 22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23, 15-8.
Lauren Link finished with her third match this season with 20 or more kills, tallying 21, while
Kacy Sekunda recorded her fourth triple-double this year with 14 kills, 24 assists and 16 digs.
Middles
Caitlin Churney and
Mariah Sanabia combined to hit .421 in the match on 17 kills with just two errors. Churney did not make an error in 24 swings; she had nine kills and Sanabia eight.
Loyola went down 2-1 in the match after hitting -.050 in the third set, hitting .362 across the third and fourth. The Greyhounds had 10 kills without an error in 27 attempts during the deciding fifth set.
Bryanne Soares passed out 30 assists, and
Leah Hunter led Loyola with 22 digs. Soares added 18, and
Ava Nepkin contributed 12.
The Greyhounds return to Reitz Arena on Friday, October 4, for a 7 p.m. match when they host Lafayette College.
