Easton -- It was a rainy and wet afternoon in the Lehigh Valley on Saturday afternoon, as the Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against the Lafayette College Leopards in a Patriot League matchup.
The Greyhounds (4-3-4 overall, 0-1-2 Patriot League) held the advantage in the first half offensively, as Loyola recorded four shots in the first 12 minutes of game time, including a shot from
Baylee DeSmit that deflected off the right post.
DeSmit had another look at goal late in the half, but was saved by the Leopards (4-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 Patriot League), as the score remained 0-0 at halftime.
Loyola continued their momentum early in the second half, as Elizabeth Gallgher had a good look at goal in the first minute of the half, but was once again saved, as the game remained scoreless.
Both defenses were lock down over the next 30 minutes, as neither team had a great look at goal.
Lafayette had their best chances over the last six minutes of the game, as they had one shot from outside the box deflect off of the cross bar in the 87th minute. The Leopards came back with a pair of shots in the last minute of play, but
Brigid Mulholland came up big with a pair of diving stops, as both teams battled to a 0-0 draw.
Loyola held the advantage in shots 9-6 and in corners 5-1 on the afternoon.
Loyola will be back in action next Saturday when they travel up to New York to face Colgate at noon.
