Koi Sims scored 10 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter on Sunday afternoon, as the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team cut their deficit down to four points, but could not complete the comeback, as they lost to Lehigh University 74-66.
Sims recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds (6 offensive).
The Greyhounds (6-7 overall, 0-2 Patriot League) entered the fourth quarter down by 14 points, but opened the fourth quarter with a 9-5 run to cut their deficit to 10 points.
Meliah Van-Otoo knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the fourth quarter, with her second one coming at the 3:51 mark, as Loyola trailed 61-53.
After a pair of Mountain Hawks (11-3 overall, 2-0 Patriot League) free throws, Salmeron hit a step-back jumper with 2:40 remaining as the Greyhounds trailed by six points.
Loyola cut their deficit to four points after a Salmeron layup with 36 seconds remaining, but Lehigh converted on their free throws down the stretch as they held on for the 74-66 win.
Amandine Amorich scored in dobule figures for her sixth straight game with 15 points, while Laura Salmeron added 13 points in the game.
After Lehigh jumped out to a 24-11 lead early in the second quarter, Loyola used a 10-0 run over the middle of the second quarter to cut their deficit to 24-21 with 3:45 remaining in the quarter. Salmeron had seven points during the run, as the Greyhounds held the Mountain Hawks to 0-7 shooting during the stretch.
Lehigh responded with a 8-2 run to end the quarter, as they led 32-23 at the half.
Loyola continues Patriot League play on Wednesday evening when they welcome Army to Reitz at 7:00 PM.
