Men's Soccer Falls to Visiting Lafayette

Baltimore -- Despite controlling possession and generating more chances, Loyola University Maryland's men's soccer team came up just short in a 1–0 loss to Lafayette on Saturday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex.

The Greyhounds (2–9–1, 1–4–0 Patriot League) dictated much of the tempo, holding 58 percent of the possession and outshooting the Leopards 11–9. Loyola also led in corner kicks, 4–1, but a second-half strike by Lafayette's Samir Dishnica proved to be the difference.

Dishnica netted the game's lone goal in the 65th minute on a free kick just outside of the box. The Greyhounds pressed for an equalizer late, with Richie Nichols, Charlie Herley, and Tyler Flynn each creating dangerous chances late in the second half.

Nichols led Loyola with three shots, including two on target, while Flynn added four attempts as the Greyhounds continuously tested the Lafayette defense. Connor O'Keefe made two saves in goal for Loyola, keeping the Greyhounds within striking distance throughout the match.

The Greyhounds' back line—anchored by Oscar Halls, Jahvar Stephenson, and Curtis Wagner—limited Lafayette's looks in open play, holding Lafayette to just three shots on goal. Loyola's midfield, led by Nichols and Tyler Tucker, controlled large portions of the match, helping the Hounds maintain attacking pressure for much of the afternoon.

The Greyhounds return to action on the road next weekend, as they will travel up to Colgate on October 18.
