Keystone State Road Trip

  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball goes on the road this weekend for its first Patriot League away contests of the year. 
  • The Greyhounds head to the Lehigh Valley for a Friday, October 3, game at Lafayette that is due to start at 7 p.m. The following day, Loyola goes to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, for a 4 p.m. match at Bucknell.

Last Time Out

  • The Greyhounds split a pair of Patriot League matches for the second weekend in a row, taking down Navy in five sets on Saturday afternoon but falling to American the following day.
  • Loyola rallied to win the final two sets against the MIdshipmen after taking the first and then going down 2-1 following three.
  • Addie Lowe had a career-best 17 kills, and Riley Hamilton matched her previous high with 16 in the win, while Kacy Sekunda posted her third triple-double in as may Patriot League outings with 13 kills, 23 assists and a career-high 22 digs.
  • The next day, American hit .339 and held Loyola to only 33 kills in the Eagles' three-set win.

Stepping Up In Conference Play

  • Addie Lowe entered the Patriot League schedule with four kills through the Greyhounds' first nine matches of the year. She entered the match in the second set of Loyola's conference opener against Holy Cross and finished with 10 kills in 31 swings.
  • Since then, Lowe had six kills against Colgate and five versus American, matches sandwiched between the Greyhounds' five-set win over Navy. In that match, she had a 17 kills, a career-high that nearly doubled her total for every contest before that.
  • Lowe took 48 attempts against the Midshipmen, and she also finished with seven digs and two blocks.
  • In four Patriot League matches, a total of 16 sets, she has 38 kills, an average of 2.375 per set.

Back For A Graduate Year

  • Kacy Sekunda returns to the Greyhounds' lineup for the 2025 season as a graduate student after earning her bachelor's degree in. She missed all but nine matches during her sophomore season (2022) and received a medical hardship waiver to compete this year.
  • Sekunda finished fifth in NCAA Division I last season with nine triple doubles, and she had her first of the 2025 season on September 5 against Robert Morris before picking up a second against Georgetown. She posted three in the first three Patriot League matches of the year, bringing her career total to 18. That ranks second-most amongst active NCAA players (Jalyn Stout, Coastal Carolina, 41). 
  • The setter-right side from Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, who earned All-Patriot League Second Team recognition along with Academic All-Patriot League honors last year, leads the Greyhounds with 3.19 kills per set and a .204 hitting percentage as of October 2.
  • Over the course of 339 sets in 93 career matches, Sekunda has 644 kills, 2,151 assists and 887 digs. She ranks eighth in Loyola career history in assists and enters the Lafayette match 248 back of Aubrey Kirvin (2009-10) for seventh.

Freshman Digging The Playing Time

  • Addie Huber has been the Greyhounds' primary libero this season and is averaging 4.37 digs per set through 13 matches. She has 20 or more digs in five of the last seven Greyhounds matches and 12 or more in eight of nine.
  • Huber ranks fourth in the Patriot League in digs (223) and digs per set (4.37), and she is 53rd and 50th nationally in those categories. Among NCAA Division I freshmen, Huber is eighth in digs per set and 11th in total digs.
  • Digs Staying With The Trend
  • Loyola ranks 58th in NCAA Division I in digs per set (15.20) through matches of October 1 continuing a trend from the last several years.
  • The Greyhounds have ranked 92nd or higher nationally in the statistical categories in the last seven seasons (2018-24) with five of those seasons finishing in the top 30.

The Data Science Of Volleyball

  • The Greyhounds have another graduate student on their roster this season, but Riley Hamilton is in only her fourth year of college. The Colgate, Wisconsin, native graduated from Loyola in May 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in data science, at the same time beginning her master's in the same field.
  • Hamilton was one of seven recipients of Loyola's Whelan Medal at the May 2025 Commencement, an honor given to the graduating students with the highest grade-point average. Hamilton, who graduated with a perfect 4.0, also received Loyola's honor as the female student-athlete with the highest GPA.
  • Hamilton matched her career-high with 16 kills on September 27 against Navy, a total she also put up September 8, 2023, versus Stony Brook.
  • In three-plus years with Loyola, she has played in 76 matches and 232 sets to average 1.37 kills per set. Last year, she had a career-high 116 kills and 160 digs, and this year, she is second on the team with 2.02 kills and third with 2.49 digs per set.
